چکیده

Aromatic plants and essential oils have many applications in medicine, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, the food industry. The oil of flowering aerial parts Achillea grandifolia, obtained by hydrodistillation, was analyzed for its constituents investigated antimicrobial radical scavenging activity. characterized a high amount oxygenated monoterpenes (72.7%) with 1,8-cineole (29.2%) camphor (23.4%) being most abundant. Sesquiterpenes were present smaller quantities (4.8%). Antimicrobial activity tested against eight ATCC bacterial strains two Candida albicans. exhibited highly pronounced Micrococcus luteus MIC value 3.50 ?g/mL, as well significant (<100 ?g/mL) Staphylococcus aureus, S. epidermidis Bacillus subtilis. Gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistant. grandifolia concentration-dependent antiradical 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) an SC50 5.4 mg/mL. TLC-DPPH assay revealed main light yellow spots indicating components anti-DPPH activity, which after isolation identified camphor.
